Here Is What the I Don't Know Was Actually Doing

We spent this month with the I don't know.

Not trying to fix it. Not trying to move through it faster. Just looking at it honestly. What it actually is, what it asks of us, what it gives back when we stop treating it like a problem.

Here is what we know now.

The I don't know is not the opposite of knowing. It is the space between what you knew and what you have not yet arrived at. It is not empty. It is full of the kind of thinking that only happens when the pressure to resolve has been lifted for long enough to let something true surface.

The woman who stopped accommodating did not suddenly know who she was. She just stopped layering more accommodation over the question. And the question, once it had room, started answering itself. Slowly. Not all at once. But honestly.

The next step did not require a destination. It just required a direction. And the direction was already there, quiet and patient, waiting for the noise to settle enough to be heard.

The I don't know is not where we are stuck. It is where we are becoming. There is a difference. And this month, we learned to tell them apart.

What comes next is the slow rebuild. The unglamorous, unremarkable, completely sufficient work of putting one foot in front of the other when nobody is watching and nothing looks like progress yet. If this arc landed for you, that one is where we go next.
